Attendance

Absence and Attendance

As of  1st September 2013 it was made clear that schools can no longer grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. This means that we can no longer authorise any holidays during term-time and any child absent from school for a term-time holiday will be registered as unauthorised.

The regulations also state that a parent/carer who fails to ensure their child’s regular attendance at school can be issued with a fixed penalty notice. Please click on the link below to view the latest letter published by Gaywood Primary School regarding attendance at school and legal intervention:

If there is a need to take your child out of school for any reason during term-time then you are required to complete the below form and return it to the school at least 4 weeks prior to the absence.

If you require any support with this matter, or you would like to discuss your child’s attendance please make an appointment to see your child’s class teacher in the first instance.

Attendance recorded in the academic year 2019-2020

DfE has laid regulations to remove the requirement to report pupils’ attendance data for the 2019/20 academic year, in recognition of the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on the possible attendance.
